Modeling Information
I am an amateur photographer with an interest in artistic image creation. I shoot both studio and location photography and my equipment is all portable. I'm willing to travel for certain projects.
I am always searching for new models and ideas...or just an opportunity to take more pictures. If I gave you a card and asked you to check out this site, I'd like to work with you on some images. It might be a casual shoot in a park, something in the studio, or a fullblown fashion shoot with a makeup artist and more.
I work full time and am available most evenings and weekends. If you're interested in getting together, please keep reading for how this works and what to expect.
I will consider paid model work for EXPERIENCED models with online portfolios who are interested in my current projects. If you cannot provide proof of experience, I will consider TFCD (Time For CD/electronic images) work, combining your portfolio needs with my own. If you're just looking for some images of you, the family, or some friends, this is probably the way we'll do it. I'm not charging for services at this time.
How I work:
For reference, my definition of TFCD means 10-30 images from the shoot, all edited and post processed as required, along with my copyright information on the image. All images will be "high resolution" in JPG format.
Prior to the shoot, I prefer to meet with you to discuss the shoot, its goals, establish rules, etc.. During the meet, usually at a coffeeshop or restaurant near you, I'll give you a copy of my release for your review. If there is something on the release you want changed, please notify me in writing prior to the shoot. Last minute changes at the time of the shoot will not be accepted. **Please note that my standard release is a FULL release, including commercial and distribution rights for photos. If that doesn't work for you, I need to know ahead of time to tailor one that meets both of our requirements.**
If travel makes it difficult to meet prior to the shoot, we'll discuss by phone and I'll e-mail you the release.
On the day of the shoot, you'll be expected to be in front of the camera at the scheduled time. If you need time for makeup, changing, etc., please arrive early. We'll discuss facilities, etc., at the meet. If it's a paid shoot, the clock starts when you step in front of the camera, ready to shoot, and ends when we call it a wrap. Any clothing changes, makeup adjustments, bathroom breaks, etc., from that first shot on will be covered as part of the "paid" portion of the shoot. If it's a TFCD shoot, we'll shoot for the agreed upon time or until all the goals are met.
I do have a stereo with CD as well as a speaker system that fits most iPods (except Shuffles). If you have a preference for music, either let me know ahead of time or bring your own CD/iPod. I'm flexible on music, with the exception of rap or heavy, hard metal (classic is great, though). I have a variety of my own iPod and will add a playlist to suit your preferences, if desired.
A VERY important element of the shoot is your comfort as a model. During the pre-shoot meet, we'll discuss rules and guidelines for the shoot. If it's agreed upon that the goal for the shoot is fashion or casual shots, you will NOT be asked for anything more. Yes, I shoot a lot of artistic nudes...but each one of those shoots was pre-arranged, not a spur of the moment request by me.
If you feel that an escort is necessary, please clear it with me prior to the shoot. I reserve the right to either ask the escort to go to another room for a while or cancel the shoot if it's not working for us. I do NOT object to escorts and encourage them if they make you feel safer or more comfortable. I just like to know about it ahead of time, especially since I'll usually provide drinks and snacks of some sort. FYI, if the shoot is at my home studio, my wife may be around the house but is not involved in the shoot.
NOTE: I've had a few models ask for private, non-release nudes, during a fashion or casual shoot. I understand the desire for a test shoot or simply to get something personal for yourself or significant other. At YOUR request, we can go "off release" for a different type of photo, provided we have the time and I can use it for my own personal portfolio with non-identifying features. This can only happen after the original goals for the shoot have been completed, however.
After completing the shoot, we'll discuss delivery of your images if it's a TFCD shoot or arrange payment (usually check or cash) if it's a paid shoot. Please allow postprocessing time for any TFCD work. You won't walk out with a CD that day but I'll usually e-mail a few to you within 24 hours and you'll get the CD within a week, depending on delivery arrangements. I'll usually provide a few courtesy images via e-mail for paid shoots as well.
I retain copyright and distribution rights on all of my images UNLESS you're paying me for a shoot with a FULL copyright transfer. Any images given to you are for personal portfolio and promotional use only. Any rights transfer to you or your manager will require a full release by me, along with negotiated payment, prior to the shoot. Please don't ask for "all RAW images" for a TFCD or where I'm paying you (yeah, it's happened). If you want them all, we can discuss a commissioned shoot.
E-mail me at brian@subjectivevision.com if you'd like to get together!
